The Acura Integra is making a comeback!
The last year the Acura Integra was available in the United States was in 2001, so we’ve been without an Integra for over 20 years. Considering how popular the last generation Integra was, it’s amazing to me that Acura discontinued this model.
Well, Acura has decided that there is a market for a small, sports cars and I’m super excited! Announced on August 12, 2021 at Monterey Car Week and teased with the image above, we can see that the new Integra is going to have styling of current Acura models.
Due to this, I am going to make some predictions for power plants and features. My guess is that the 2022 Acura Integra will have a turbo motor, probably a 1.5 turbo as a base and the Civic Type-R’s 2.0 turbo powering the GS-R. An Integra Type-R version will likely keep the same 2.0 turbo engine, but have 30-40 more horsepower and a race tuned suspension.
The 2022 Integra will be a premium sport compact offering, so it’s going to be in a slightly higher class than the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86, but likely in the same class as the WRX and WRX STi.
I expect the car to be FWD (Front Wheel Drive), but wouldn’t be surprised if the Type-R (or will it be the Type-S?) will have a first time ever available SH-AWD.

Acura today announced the return of the Integra during its annual appearance at Monterey Car Week. The legendary nameplate, one of two models in the original product lineup when Acura launched on March 27, 1986, will rejoin the performance brand’s product portfolio as a new compact premium entrant next year.
“The Integra is back,” said Jon Ikeda Vice President and Acura Brand Officer. “I’m thrilled to say Integra is returning to the Acura lineup with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling our commitment to Precision Crafted Performance in every way – design, performance and the overall driving experience.”
More details about the new Acura Integra will be available closer to its 2022 introduction.
